KIRINDI ELLA

 


      Kirindi Ella is one of the 10 main tallest waterfalls in Sri Lanka . It born in the village of Kuttapitiya in the Pelmadulla Divisional Secretariat Division in the Ratnapura District of the Sabaragamuwa province , Kirindi Ella is popular both locally and abroad .

                This natural waterfall which is 116 meters high is created by the tributary of the Denawaka river , called kirindi oya which starts from the Kuttapitiya hills in pelmadulla . (This Kirindi oya is not the main Kirindi oya in the country , which creates the Rawana Falls in Badulla and joins the sea at Bundala Sanctuary ). Later the Denawaka River joins the Kalu River at the Bambarabotuwa Reserve .
