Sri Lankan Peoples

 


SINHALESE

  Sinhalese make up 75% of the total population of Sri Lanka.Sinhala men wear national attire and women wear Osiris and Saris.The majority of Sinhalese are Buddhists and a minority are christians.

TAMILS

    The other admits that is a 'Wound'.The men wear a shirt and vest while the women choose the Sari as their garment.A limited number are Catholics and the majority are Hindus.

MUSLIMS

  The Muslims,who are accepted by others as 'Assalam Wanekkum', wear long trousers and a long shirt.Women wear saris and often cover their heads.The religion of the Muslim community is Islam.They consider the church as their religious headquarters and gather around it.

BURGHERS

   The Burghers,who live according to Western culture,accept the other as Goodmorning.According to the European system,men wear shirts and trousers while women wear gowns and trousers.

ABORIGINES

       The reception is done by holding the guest's hand in his own.Men's pants are sarcastic and have an ax hanging over the shoulder.Women pull on a chin and shirt.KiriKoraha dance is popular among the aborigines.
